There Was A Time (Lyrics & Music : Rainer Oskamp)
There was a time, I can remember well, thousands of memories and stories to tell
So many years ago, so many years ago.
There was a time, I can remeber well how we listened to the stories my Grandpa could tell
Mouths and ears wide open, his past in our minds.
I often think of the places, where we played together
and how we tried so hard to be adult our heads full of mad imaginations.
We didn´t know any boredom, youth was our only treasure
And we sweared we´de never be apart
But now we´re scattered in all winds, in all winds.
There was a time, I think of the night I spent with my very first love in a tent
Only seven years old and scared of the dark.
There was a time, we´ve got two trees in the yard
I used to sit upon like an Indian guard prepared for adventures to every time.
We build a house in that tree and called it our Policestaion
And we felt ourselves so clever and strong and made our own investigations.
And holydays on the farm were always such a big sensation
We fed the cattle and brought the harvest home,
But businessmen took all that
away, all that away.
There was a time, I was endouvering wanted to learn like Paul McCartney to sing
An old racket was my guitar, and England so far.
There was a time, tonight I think of it all it were the precioust years that I can recall
And memories are not declined, I saved them all in my mind.
There was a time, I can remember well,
thousands of memories and stories to tell
So many years ago, so many years ago,
So many years ago,
So many years ago.
